How to Update PES 2021 Squads

A comprehensive guide on applying an Option File to update all kits and squads in PES 2021.

Updating your squads with an Option File is the best way to keep PES 2021 current. Here is the standard method for applying most Option Files on PC and PS4.

Preparation

1. Format a USB drive to FAT32 (or simply create a folder on PC).

2. Create a folder named exactly `WEPES` on the drive or in your Documents folder.

3. Extract the downloaded Option File contents into the `WEPES` folder.

In-Game Installation Steps

1. Boot up PES 2021 and navigate to the Settings tab, then select Edit.

2. Choose Import/Export and then Import Team.

3. Select all the `.ted` files you placed in the WEPES folder.

4. Check the box that says 'Apply player and squad data'.

5. Press OK and wait for the import to finish. Remember to save your Edit Data before exiting!

If the game crashes during import, you may need to clear your save data. Check our troubleshooting page for more assistance.

Why Update Squads?

The built-in rosters are frozen in 2020 — five years of transfers, retirements, and wonderkids are missing. Updating squads brings the game back to life: current lineups, corrected ratings, and proper formations. Combined with option files for kits and faces, an updated PES 2021 feels remarkably current despite its age.

How Squad Updates Work

Community editors release squad update files you import through the game's edit mode or copy into the save folder. Always back up your existing save data first — a bad import can corrupt Master League saves. The process pairs naturally with a fresh install (see how to install), and if anything breaks, troubleshooting has you covered. Once updated, take your refreshed squad into Master League.
