Common Errors and Troubleshooting
Solutions for the most common errors encountered when playing or modding PES 2021.
While PES 2021 is generally stable, applying mods and Option Files can sometimes lead to issues. Here are solutions to the most common problems players face.
Crash During Import (Option File)
If the game crashes while importing an Option File, it usually means your Edit Data is corrupted or there are conflicting image files. Go to your `Documents\KONAMI\eFootball PES 2021 SEASON UPDATE\save` folder and delete the `EDIT00000000` file. Then, try importing the Option File again in smaller batches of 15-20 teams at a time.
'Live Update' Overwriting Mods
Sometimes Konami's Live Update will overwrite your custom squads. To fix this, press the R3 button (Right Stick in) on the controller at the team selection screen to toggle Live Update OFF before starting a local match.
Stuttering or Low FPS on PC
Ensure your PC meets the system requirements. Go to the PES 2021 installation folder, open `settings.exe`, and ensure your dedicated GPU is selected under the Specifications tab, not your integrated graphics.
